Here is the CRC newsletter for April 3rd:

We have an urgent need for a lot of top soil to use in our gardens in preparation for the big launch on April 14 & 15. If anyone can donate some, please contact Joe at crcvista@gmail.com

From Senior Services:

I’m working with a lady who is in need of a monthly bus pass. She is able to get a discounted pass for $32, but cannot afford to purchase one for April. If you can donate $32, please contact me as soon as possible (savannah.turner@clintonvillecrc.org) . Thank you very much! Savannah

One of the senior ladies I am working with is in need of AAA batteries for her blood pressure monitor. If you can help with this need, please contact me at savannah.turner@clintonvillecrc.org -Thanks! Savannah

I work with an older lady who lives alone. She only has one phone in her home and it is not portable—so she often misses phone calls (it is difficult for her to get to the phone in time). This lady would greatly benefit from having an answering machine and a portable phone. Please let me know if you can help with this need. Thanks! Savannah- savannah.turner@clintonvillecrc.org

I’m working with a 67 year old man who is sleeping on a broken couch which is too short for his stature of 6’3”. He has chronic pain related to a bad back and could really use a longer twin sized bed so he could sleep peacefully at night. He is on SSI and does not have the resources to purchase a bed. If you are able to assist this gentleman please contact barbcooper@clintonvillecrc.org Thanks!

I have a senior whose vacuum cleaner is no longer working. She is on a fixed income, raising two grandchildren and does not have the funds to purchase a new one. She and one grandchild have asthma so keeping the carpet in her apartment as clean as possible is of import to their health. If anyone could provide her with a vacuum cleaner it would be so greatly appreciated! Please contact barbcooper@clintonvillecrc.org if you can assist.

I have an 89 year old woman who is needing to monitor her blood pressure. She had a donated automatic blood pressure monitor that stopped working. She is on a very limited income and cannot afford a replacement. If you are able to assist this dear woman please contact a.taylor@clintonvillecrc.org

If you have experience teaching English and would like to help, please contact Samira Deeb for details at 268-3539.

Ohio Benefit Bank:
We are doing free tax returns here at the CRC through the Ohio Benefit Bank. Most people that earn less than $60,000/year will qualify. Call 268-3539 to make an appointment.

From Kinship Care:

I am working with a grandfather who is raising his 5 year old grandson. The family is in need of a bed for the little boy. If you can help please contact me at charlotte.law@clintonvillecrc.org. Thank you.

“I am working with a family who has 6 children and they are in need of a washer and dryer. If you are able to help, please contact me at charlotte.law@clintonvillecrc.org!”

“I am working with a grandmother raising her 4 grandchildren. They are moving into a new home and are in need of a refrigerator for it. Please contact Charlotte.Law@clintonvillecrc.org”

“I am working with a grandmother who is raising her 17 year old granddaughter and she is in need of assistance with high school graduation and college admission fees. The family has applied for and been granted financial aid for the granddaughter to go to college but the current fees are unobtainable as the grandmother is on a fixed income. Please contact me at charlotte.law@clintonvillecrc.org”

I have two kinship families that need help with bills. Both families are working and one needs help with a bill for a bunk bed and the other needs help with a student loan bill (the caregiver) to OSU. Together these families are raising 5 grandchildren and one un-related child. If you would like to help either of these families with any amount, please contact Lu Zipfel at lz.kinship@clintonvillecrc.org or 214-6347. Thanks so much.

We have openings for families who need Kinship Care services. If you, or anyone you know, is raising relative children (without support of the child’s biological parents), and live in Franklin County, you are most likely eligible for our program. http://clintonvillecrc.org/crc/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Kinship-care-flyer-2011.pdf

I’m working with a 67 year old man who is sleeping on a broken couch which is too short for his stature of 6’3”. He has chronic pain related to a bad back and could really use a longer twin sized bed so he could sleep peacefully at night. He is on SSI and does not have the money to buy a bed. If you are able to assist this gentleman please contact barbcooper@clintonvillecrc.org Thanks!

From Senior Services:

I am also working with an 89 year old woman who is needing to monitor her blood pressure. She had a donated automatic blood pressure monitor that stopped working. She is on a very limited income and cannot afford a replacement. If you are able to assist this dear woman please contact barbcooper@clintonvillecrc.org

I have a client who is need of hearing aids but lacks the resources to acquire them. We have tried to get this man hearing aids free-of-charge, but our request was denied (for reasons unclear). This man is living on a fixed income with his wife; however, his wife is rarely home, as she is taking care of her ill mother in Grove City. Therefore, this man has to accomplish many day-to-day tasks on his own, including grocery shopping and caring for his granddaughter, that are made quite difficult due to his hearing problems.
We have found a program that will give him “free” hearing aids; however, this “free” program has a non-refundable application fee of $200. I have found a donor who is willing to donate the first $100 toward this application fee. I was hoping I could find someone else who is generous enough to donate the rest of the money.
If you would like to make a donation, or have any information about who could make a donation, please email me at brian.whitacre@clintonvillecrc.org, or call my cell phone at 330-495-5215.

Thank you!

Brian Whitacre
Social Work Intern
Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center
15 Clinton Heights Ave (Senior Services office)
Columbus, Ohio 43202
(614) 267-3050
